Violations of the commission’s children ad rules may draw new fines
By TVTechnology
published KBCW-TV in San Francisco and KSTW-TV in Tacomah, WA, may be fined $8000 each for violating the FCC’s rules on children’s advertising.
Each station volunteered its violation as part of requests for station license renewals.
KSTW exceeded ad limits by one and two minutes and aired two program-length commercials. KBCW-TV aired a “Disney on Ice” commercial featuring a Tarzan character within a Tarzan show. It also failed to place all relevant information in its public file.
The commission has not ruled on the stations’ license renewal requests.
