Vislink Acquires Focus Communications

Microwave Radio Communications said this week that its parent company, Vislink Holdings, has acquired Focus Communications, parent company of Western Technical Services, for $5.5 million.

WTS, based in Orange County, Calif., specializes in the design and installation of video and data microwave communications, electronic news gathering, Airborne Law Enforcement, cellular and PCS, satellite, video surveillance, fiber optics and site control systems. WTS has been a value-added reseller representing Microwave Radio Communications since its formation in 1990. The founders and management team are all remaining to expand the business.

A key part of Vislink's strategy is to create incremental long-term recurring revenue opportunities by building a US Technical Services business through both organic and acquisition led growth. The company said that the acquisition of WTS would enhance service revenues from the domestic U.S. BAS relocation project and the defense, law enforcement and security markets, as well as provide recurring revenues from the broadcast market as it moves towards contracted services.
