Wavexpress introduces new version of TVTonic service
Wavexpress has a new version of its TVTonic service for delivering interactive video channels directly to home personal computers. With the software upgrade comes the launch of its new Web site at www.tvtonic.com.
TVTonic is a scalable distribution system capable of delivering video to the computer desktop via terrestrial broadcast, cable modem, datacast and IP Multicast. The service differs from typical streaming media systems by pre-recording video channels on the user’s PC hard drive, providing instant access to full-screen, DVD-quality video.
TVTonic’s basic service carries national and international news and a variety of music, interviews and live performance programming. Current pay services include: Cartoon Cow (kids), GolfSpan, Video Music Hits, Model TV (fashion) and Turbobytes (games & software).
Most TVTonic channels are encoded at 1500 to 4000 kbps. Software controls allow viewers to pause, rewind, fast-forward, skip, search and zoom in or out.
TVTonic Basic is currently available for free for a 60-day trial period, after which activation will cost $1.95 per month. Subscribers can access two free channels containing news and music videos. Subscribers with a TV tuner card can also watch, record and stream live television.
TVTonic Plus provides access to five subscription channels for an additional $2 per month. Each channel is updated daily, giving viewers a constant flow of new programming.
