WBFF launches local HD newscasts
WBFF, the Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned FOX affiliate in Baltimore, launched its local newscasts in HD June 2, to become the first station in the market to broadcast local news in HD.
As part of its multimillion-dollar investment in HD news technology and production, the station is broadcasting its HD newscast from a new set. The new studio features a rotating desk with two different backdrops, 35 HD televisions, new HD studio cameras, HD graphics, a traffic monitoring system and the HD SkyWatch Weather Center.
A new remote satellite and microwave truck has been dispatched to gather news in and around Maryland. The station initially will transition to 16:9 video shot in the field.
The new SkyWatch weather system enables street-level mapping and 3-D forecasting. Its weather tracking technology provides accurate, detailed weather forecasting.
