WCAV-TV automates with Sundance Digital
The station broadcasts three networks, CBS, ABC and Fox, from one master control suite, so Sundance automation is a key part of its success.
WCAV-TV, in Charlottesville, VA, has upgraded its automation capabilities with a new Titan system from Sundance Digital. The station broadcasts three networks, CBS, ABC and FOX from one master control suite.
The CBS affiliate for the Charlottesville market shares technical facilities with FOX affiliate WAHU and ABC’s WVAW. Station management selected a Titan automation suite, which includes Sundance Digital's NewsLink system for live newscasts, and Intelli-Sat Broadcast Record Manager. In addition, the company customized code to provide character generator interfaces for its CGS Infographics automation and Inscriber Inca Studio systems.
A six-channel Leitch Nexio server system has also been installed, whereby three primary and three backup channels are under the control of the Titan systems. The Inca Stations and tape transports and satellite receivers are also controlled by the Titan.
