Web Security Firm Plans TV Campaign

LOS ANGELES: Antispyware specialist CyberDefender is planning to develop a TV ad campaign with part of its proceeds from a recent equity investment. The company said this week it sold more than 1.1 million shares of restricted common stock to an affiliate of Guthy-Render for an estimated $2 million. Of that, CyberDefender said it would use $400,000 “for the creation and production by Guthy-Renker of CyberDefender television commercials.” The remainder is to be used for capital investment. The investment also extends CyberDefender’s media and marketing services agreement with Guthy-Renker subsidiary GR Match through June 1, 2011.

“The television ads Guthy-Renker is creating open up a powerful new marketing channel for us which we believe will be a key factor in helping us attain our mid-2010 goal of $10 million to $12 million in profitable monthly sales and a base of at least 1,000,000 paying customers,” CyberDefender CEO Gary Guseinov stated.

Boris Shimanovsky, president of GR Match, said the ads are expected to be rolled out nationally in August.
