Wegener Nabs $1.6M IPTV Deal
Wegener Corp. has received an order valued at more than $1.6 million to supply its SMD 616 IPTV set top boxes to Conklin-Intracom, a Duluth, Ga., provider of IPTV systems for telcos.
This order includes a combination of Wegener’s SMD-515 set tops and remote controls for premium IPTV services, including: HD programming, video on demand and integrated personal video recording (PVR). The SMD-515 IPTV set top supports MPEG-4/h.264 and MPEG-2 decoding in standard definition and high definition video formats with optional digital video recording capability.
The SMD-515 SD/HD/PVR MPEG-2/MPEG-4 set top boxes are part of Conklin-Intracom’s fs|cdn integrated middleware and conditional access IPTV solution. The boxes are commercially deployed by telcos and other IPTV operators in the U.S. and internationally. The fs|cdn solution leverages the interactive capabilities of next generation communications networks to enable IPTV services and cutting-edge on-screen applications employing a unique architecture, combining middleware and conditional access, to enable operators cost-efficient scaling from 100 to 100,000 end-users.
“Our ongoing partnership with Wegener continues to yield fruitful results,” said David Hunt, vice president fs|cdn Americas. “They have produced a solid solution to meet the high demand for an MPEG-2/MPEG-4 SD/HD PVR set top box among our customers.”
Conklin-Intracom’s order was received during Wegener’s current second quarter of fiscal 2008. Shipments are scheduled for delivery during Wegener’s third and fourth quarters of fiscal 2008.
