Western States EAS Summit Planned at NAB
The Nevada Broadcasters Association will host the third Western States EAS Summit on Wednesday afternoon, April 26 at NAB2006. The event will take place at the Las Vegas Hilton in Ballroom F at 2:30p.m.
The session will be divided into four 30-minute segments. The first will review the recent NASBA National Summit II on EAS and Emergency Communications held in Washington D.C. The second segment will focus on access across police and fire lines by broadcast news crews covering news events and also on the crossing of these lines by engineering personnel to get to studios and transmitter sites. At issue is the training of news and engineering staffs in order to earn First Responder Identification Credentials.
The third segment will concentrate on building relationships between stations and local emergency management agencies. The final segment, the association said, "puts everything together in order to push the envelope for a revised solidified strategic Western States Regional Plan that is filled with vision and values." It will also address the need for EAS activations in Spanish.
