Westinghouse Digital Expands 1080p LCD Line
Westinghouse Digital Electronics said this week it's adding another model to its 1080p line -- the 37-inch LCD LVM-37w3 -- which comes with six HD inputs. The 37-inch model joins the company's 42-inch 1080p model LVM-42w2. Westinghouse Digital, based in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., claims to be the first manufacturer to bring 1080p LCD flat-screens to market, and the fifth largest LCD manufacturer globally.
The six HD input connectors will accommodate cable or satellite set-top boxes, a DVD player (apparently including the new HD DVD format), a gaming platform such as an Xbox 360, and a PC.
The LVM-37w3 comes with attached speakers, weighs 43 pounds (without the base), offers what Westinghouse said is a 16.7 million color display, along with 8ms response time, a 176-degree horizontal/vertical viewing angles, brightness of 550 cd/m2, and a contrast ratio of 1000:1.
