NBC affiliate WFLA-TV has purchased 15 Fujinon A18x7.6BERM broadcast ENG/EFP zoom lenses over the past year.
The Tampa-St. Petersburg station will use the lenses with Panasonic P2 solid-state cameras. The lens features a wide angle of 60 degrees at 7.6mm, focal length range of 7.6 to 137mm and18x magnification. Other features include pre-determined zoom speeds, pre-set zoom speeds and a programmable zoom that is used for tripod shooting of documents and photographs. WFLA--which produces four live newscasts daily--has been using the lenses for the past three years in its newsgathering process.
"The Fujinon A18x7.6BERM lens are extremely reliable and well-suited to the rigors of ENG work," said Mark Schaefer, director of engineering for WFLA-TV, which is owned by Media General.
