WFTV Uses Canon Lenses to Transitions News to HD
WFTV, a Cox Broadcasting-owned ABC affiliate in Orlando, Fla., recently purchased three Canon DigiSuper 22xs Compact HD Studio lenses for local news studio programming.
"WFTV is transitioning to HDTV for its studio newscasts," said Sterling Davis, vice president of engineering at Cox Broadcasting. "In a market that's heavily cabled with HD capacity, Orlando's WFTV is the first of Cox's stations to begin the transition to HDTV and has received many positive emails and phone calls about its HDTV telecasts."
The Canon lenses are designed to allow users to configure more cost-effective studio camera systems. The DigiSuper 22xs packs a high-end optical system into a package with a size and weight commensurate with that associated with portable production cameras. It offers high contrast and uniformity of brightness across the image plane. The 13.4-pound weight of the lens allows cameras using it to be supported on a modestly sized pedestal or tripod system, or to be used in robotically controlled camera systems.
