WGME, WPFO to produce shared 10 p.m. newscast
Beginning Feb. 5, WGME-TV, the Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned CBS affiliate in Portland, ME, will produce a 35-minute 10 p.m. newscast Monday through Sunday for the city's Fox affiliate, WPFO-TV.
The daily News 13 on Fox newscast is the result of a three-year news-sharing agreement.
WGME-TV, which will go live next week with an Avid Technology Avid Unity ISIS collaborative media storage system and network, will produce the new newscast in addition to its own nightly 11 p.m. newscast. Anticipated workflow improvement and productivity gains resulting from the Avid ISIS system will help WGME-TV absorb the new news production demands, said station general manager Terry Cole.
News 13 on Fox will use WGME-TV's on-air talent working from a new news set.
WGME-TV's breaking news style should complement WPFO's program lineup, Cole said. The station shoots news in the DVC Pro format.
