WHYY opens Dover news bureau

WHYY-TV12, the public broadcaster serving southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and southern New Jersey, formally unveiled its new Dover, DE, Community News Bureau Jan. 17 with an official ribbon cutting ceremony carried live as the lead-in to the station’s “Delaware Tonight” newscast.

The bureau extends the station's broadcast and production capabilities to cover news and events throughout the entire state of Delaware. WHYY first announced plans for the Dover Community News Bureau in June 2005.

The location of the bureau, near Legislative Hall, enables WHYY to provide ongoing coverage of the political process, including live and taped reports of legislative debates and issues as they unfold. The facility will enable WHYY to be more effective and efficient in covering live news.

Mitchell Associates of Wilmington, DE, designed the bureau; Louis Rosenberg served as project principal.
