WKTC automates with Crispin
WKTC, the MyNetworkTV affiliate in Columbia, SC, has installed a System 2000 broadcast automation system from Crispin to streamline the handling of content into and out of the station.
The system at WKTC includes control for three on-air playback channels. RapidPlayX, Crispin’s on-air playback application, provides playlist monitoring, allowing operators to create and load playlists, edit events, issue commands and monitor event status. Crispin is providing a 16-port DeviceServer (with a 16-port RJ-45 1RU connector interface panel) for real-time device control in the WKTC system.
As part of the System 2000, operators can use TurboBrowser to peruse server content and drag and drop clips or insert alternate events (interstitials, commercials, etc.) or entire blocks of material to accommodate last-minute changes to the schedule.
AssetBase, a Web-enabled asset management solution, combines extensive media management capabilities with a powerful database. This allows users to find specific video assets efficiently, automatically create and manage associated metadata and monitor assets on various video servers, archive storage systems and near-line disk arrays.
The system includes one Dubber workstation, providing all of the tools required to speed and simplify the acquisition and preparation of material for automated on-air playback. Using Crispin's RecordScheduler, operators can manually record events or schedule future program acquisition events.
