WMTW-TV Selects FastBreak NXT Automation
ABC affiliate WMTW-TV in Portland, Maine, has upgraded to a Sundance Digital FastBreak NXT Automation system to manage a second channel of programming. WMTW-TV is owned by Hearst-Argyle Television Inc.
The system upgrade also allows WMTW to integrate SQL database management, along with frame-accurate control of two Leitch VR440 servers, tape transports, switchers, routers and other peripherals.
Bill Greep, WMTW’s director of engineering said, “FastBreak has enabled us to upgrade our outmoded database architecture and automate more than one channel. We’re now controlling Channel 8 and our direct-to-cable Channel 9. It is also providing us with the flexibility to customize the automation of events, commercials and programming beyond our former capabilities.”
The FastBreak NXT Automation system is designed to manage information, control content, and provide a master control solution. The system incorporates a distributed, fault-tolerant architecture and an integrated SQL database.
