WSAW-TV Taps Omneon for Master Control Rebuild
Omneon is updating CBS affiliate WSAW-TV with its Spectrum video server system.
The Wasusau, Wis.-based station is purchasing the system as part of a master control upgrade. The Omneon Spectrum system offers storage for the station's commercial library as well as storage and playout for syndicated programs and other media assets.
"The Omneon system handles the file formats we need today easily and also supports HD and other formats that we need in the future," said Phil Hejtmanek, chief engineer at WSAW, owned and operated by Gray Television.
Hejtmanek also said that the Spectrum is constructed in way that lends itself to future expansion. The Omneon system also offers control and transmission, media management and archiving capabilities.
