WTTW-TV chooses Sony monitors for control room
Sony’s evaluation-grade CRT monitor (BVM-A24E1WU) will help station personnel at WTTW-TV monitor both SD and HD signals.
WTTW-TV in Chicago has chosen Sony professional LCD and CRT monitors for its new digital multi-format control room. The station is installing several Sony LUMA LCD and BVM-A CRT monitors in a variety of applications.
The station has implemented the LUMA LMD172WS 17in (viewable area, measured diagonally) wide-screen monitors, to work in tandem with two Sony BVMA24E1WU 24in (viewable area, measured diagonally) CRT monitors.
The LUMA displays will primarily be used as camera monitors. The 24in CRT widescreen monitors will be used for line and preview, as well as the reference monitors for judging the final video product.
All monitors will be installed with Sony’s BKM 243 HS module, allowing them to accept either SD or HD signals. The auto-sensing feature of this module will allow the monitor to change from SD or HD display, depending on the signals from the switcher and router. This eliminates the need for additional monitor routing or re-patching into two separate input modules.
