WTVS Deploys Terayon Digital Video Broadcast Platform
Terayon Communication Systems, a leading provider of digital video networking products based in Santa Clara, Calif., announced that PBS affiliate WTVS in Detroit has become the first public TV station to deploy the Terayon BP 5100 as part of its HD infrastructure.
Detroit Public Television is initially deploying the BP 5100 to switch between local and national HD feeds, insert real-time graphic overlays, and reduce bit-rates to accommodate the HD and SD feeds without having to decode and re-encode.
The Terayon BP 5100 provides capabilities for processing, managing and branding digital video services and applications, including graphical overlay of logos and ads, dynamic program switching, and insertion of programs and ads in HD and SD.
