WXII 12 transitions to digital, prepares for HD
Hearst-Argyle-owned WXII 12 in Winston-Salem, NC, has deployed Utah Scientific's UTAH-400 routing switcher, SC-4 Control System and HD-2020 master control switcher for its move from analog to digital operations.
An NBC affiliate and one of the oldest TV stations in North Carolina, WXII 12 selected the UTAH-400 router, with a 288 frame (loaded 144 x 196 HD), to replace an existing analog Utah Scientific router.
The new digital router is a key component of the station's more streamlined workflow in which SDI video signals with embedded audio from satellite feeds are routed to an Avid ISIS media server for ingest. The router connections give edit bays using the Avid NewsCutter nonlinear editor (NLE) direct access to all sources. WXII 12 editors and producers also can rely on the Utah Scientific soft control panels to provide flexible, GUI-based router control directly from their workstations.
