ZGS Communications Lights Up Telemundo Affiliate in Richmond, Va.
ARLINGTON, VA.: ZGS Communications is starting a Telemundo affiliate in Richmond, Va., the company said this week. WXTD-TV will become the only local Spanish-language TV station in the market, ZGS said. The Washington, D.C.-area media company now has a stable of 13 Telemundo affiliates.
The station launched over-the-air on Channel 45, Comcast 71 and soon on Verizon FIOS. WZTD will broadcast the Inauguration of Virginia’s Governor live from the State Capitol in Spanish on Jan. 16, 2010.
ZGS Communications is a Hispanic-owned media with television stations in Boston, El Paso, Texas; Fresno, Calif.; Ft. Myers-Naples, Fla.; Hartford, Conn.; Orlando, Fla.; Philadelphia, Providence, R.I.; Richmond, Va.; San Antonio, Texas; Springfield, Mass.; Tampa, Fla.,; and Washington, D.C. The company also owns three Spanish-language radio stations serving Washington, D.C. and Tampa, and Spanish-language Web portal www.holaciudad.com.
