CNN captures live, handheld HD shots from State of the Union Address
CNN was on the floor of the House Chamber to capture high-definition shots during President George W. Bush’s State of the Union Address Jan. 28.
Unlike the other cameras positioned on the gallery level, the CNN floor camera was untethered, providing shots as the president entered the chamber, walked down the aisle and delivered his address.
Making the live shots possible was RF Central’s RF Extreme high-definition wireless camera system. The COFDM-based system was married to a Sony HD handheld camera and provided 1080i high-definition live shots. HD transmission from the wireless camera was delayed by about two frames.
