DK announces new products for IBC

DK-Technologies will be using September’s IBC 2006 show in Amsterdam to unveil a number of new metering products for both audio and video. In addition, DK has announced a number of new features for its ground-breaking range of MSD audio meters.

As part of this upgrade, MSD600M audio meters can now be connected directly to a PC, allowing the transfer of data for logging signal parameters. This opens new applications for automatic monitoring of audio signal levels in playout areas and transmission links and by acceptance testing of program material. Also new is the extended loudness measurement showing the loudness graphical as a function of time. Additionally, the timecode may be coupled to the signal enabling the search for any particular location in the recording. These features are helpful when adjusting loudness to within a given limit without sacrificing the dynamics of the sound.

The MSD600M audio meters will, of course, retain their signature phase correlation meter and the unique JellyFish display for visualization of surround sound. They are now delivered with a CD containing utility software DK-Matrix for easy configuration of the instrument including connecting inputs to the display and the outputs, and for labeling of the audio signals. The software also offers the user the possibility of designing proprietary PPM scales and the upload of standard scales. Audiometers already in service may be field upgraded with the new features to obtain the full benefit of the meter.

Among the new video products DK will show is a new video meter called Spinner at IBC. This instrument will combine the monitoring of both video and audio and will be prepared for HD as well as SD-SDI video signals. The audio part will allow surround sound monitoring using the proprietary JellyFish display.
