Entone and HP have collaborated in the launch of a VOD server solution designed to lower the total cost of ownership for video service operators.
The new VOD server achieves single-server throughput of more than 100Gb/s. The Entone platform, on a 64-processor HP Integrity Superdome server running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, delivers more than 27,400 simultaneous MPEG-2 video streams at 3.75Mb/s per stream or more than 50,000 MPEG-4 streams at 2Mb/s per stream.
Entone’s StreamLiner XL software coupled with HP Integrity servers is responsible for the performance of the Entone VOD platform.
