Europe, Canada, Japan receive Olympics with help from T-Systems
T-Systems is broadcasting video, sound and data signals during the 28th Olympic Summer Games in Athens for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the Canadian Broadcasting Company, ARD and ZDF.
The company also is sending HD video signals of the Olympics’ soccer tournament to Tokyo for Japanese television and broadcast programs via satellite newsgathering (SNG) for the Greek Telecommunications Organization (OTE).
Together with the OTE, T-Systems will send the signals and data via submerged cable from the International Broadcasting Center in Athens to T-Systems’ point of presence in Milan as a gateway to Deutsche Telekom AG’s global network. T-Systems will use this network to broadcast the data to Germany, Canada and more than 70 EBU members in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
