EVS Broadcast Equipment renewed its collaboration with TV Festival de Cannes, the official broadcasters for the 60th Cannes Film Festival. Alongside Avid, EVS provided technical facilities for the whole event.
During 12 days, TV Festival de Cannes broadcasts live coverage of the event (opening and closing ceremonies, press conferences, photo-calls and interviews). Last year, KM Production, the production company in charge of the festival, appointed EVS to provide an XT[2] digital production system with related control applications for the management of clips and playout.
The XT[2] servers and IP Director software application managed the ingest, the transfer to and from the Avid post-production station and the playout for the 12 days of the festival. The IP Director was then used to produce clips instantly from the recorded feeds or to create simple highlight packages ready to go to air. Once created, sophisticated edits created with Avid could then be transferred back to the XT[2] server.
