FCC re-allocates some BAS, FS, MSS spectrum for ‘3G’ services
The FCC reallocation of certain portions of spectrum for advanced wireless services (AWS) affects portions of spectrum previously reserved for mobile satellite service and broadcast auxiliary service.
The commission redesignated 1915-1920MHz for AWS as well as 1995-2000MHz, 2020-2025MHz and 2175-2180MHz, which were previously allocated to mobile satellite service, for use by new “3G” wireless service.
According to the commission, the relocation and reimbursement obligations of AWS entrants to BAS and fixed service licensees and other incumbents in the 1995-2000 MHz, 2020-2025 MHz, and 2175-2180 MHz bands were addressed.
