France Television will use EVS live and near-live technology for the production of the Roland Garros 2007 tennis competition in both SD and HD. During two weeks, feeds from 21 SD and 28 HD cameras covering matches from seven different tennis courts will be ingested to the France Television media server and recorded onto four EVS XT[2] servers. The servers interconnect through the XNet2 high-bandwidth media network.
Matches are recorded in IMX40 format on the XT[2] server for fast file interchange with the Avid NLEs. Once retrieved, the editor can simply transfer the footage to the Avid timeline for editing. In total, more than 830 hours of content including the key matches, the best clips and highlights of the tournament have been recorded on 38 removable hard disk drives for a total of almost 20TB of archived footage.
