Hitachi rolls out solid-state Mediapac cartridges for Z-DR1 recorder
Hitachi has introduced 4GB, 8GB and 16GB solid-state Mediapac cartridges and demonstrated 160GB hard disk storage for the Z-DR1 dockable digital recorder at NAB2006.
Introduced at NAB2005, the Z-DR1 recorder was developed in partnership with nNovia and Audavi to provide a unique, affordable field acquisition system. The Z-DR1 employs Mediapacs, which are aluminum-encased Hitachi hard disks, ranging between 40GB and 120GB capacity. This translates to as much as nine hours of recording time per Mediapac. With the design, users move only the data from the camera to an editing station, not the entire recording device or hard drive.
