Idaho station streamlines operations with Sundance system
Looking to lower costs and allow streamlined operations to work more efficiently, KTRV-TV, the Fox affiliate in Boise, ID, has upgraded its Sundance Digital automation system to now include a FastBreak NXT Automation package.
The newly upgraded FastBreak NXT Automation suite now allows the station to fully automate control of all on-air operations of the simulcast analog-digital channel, including syndicated programming via Intelli-Sat, Sundance’s management system for recording incoming satellite and fiber feeds. The station initially installed the basic FastBreak software in 2006 to automate interstitials at the station.
KTRV’s chief engineer Daniel Paixao called the Fastbreak system “a good investment for our station.” The automation system in place now controls the entire station’s production operations, including tape decks, a Thomson Grass Valley production switcher, a Grass Valley Venus router, a Grass Valley Saturn router control panel and two Omneon Media Deck servers.
