Klotz Digital introduces VADIS 212 router

Klotz Digital has announced the upgrade of its flagship product line by unveiling the VADIS 212, a new compact audio router and DSP engine. The VADIS 212 is the direct successor of the VADIS 210, handling up to 256x256 I/O channels and offering an enhanced front panel display. The main improvement, however, is the integration of the fanless PSU, which reduces the frame size down to three RU without loss of performance. The VADIS 212 continues the product line’s ability to get any signal anywhere, reducing wiring cost by using fiber cabling.

By using a combination of modular architecture and freely assignable slots, the VADIS 212 can grow with the user’s needs. The fanless PSU is now installed at the front of the VADIS 212 frame, offering easy accessibility and totally silent operation. This allows the user to install the engine directly in studios or other noise-sensitive areas. A redundant PSU is optionally available. All essential components, such as redundant PSUs and all audio or data interface cards, can be hot-swapped during operation.

The VADIS 212 consists of a 19in fanless mainframe with 10 freely assignable slots for proven interface plug-in cards, covering most established analog and digital audio formats. Decentralized signal processing, routing and fiber-optic audio networking, offering shared access to inputs and outputs, as well as DSP functions are only some of the features provided. The router includes user-friendly software for configuration and control. To extend the operation and enable control from different locations, router control panels can be attached. The system status is monitored regularly and the last system status is stored automatically on a non-volatile memory to make it easily available after power off. The VADIS 212 offers flexible interaction with other Klotz Digital and third-party components via Ethernet and TCP/IP links.

The VADIS 212 handles 256x256 I/O channels in real-time, making it flexible enough for deployment in all segments of the audio media industry. It can also become a stage-box, providing up to 36 remote controlled MIC/LINE inputs. It can be used as a router with 40x40 analog or digital I/Os. In combination with the OCTO-BUS interface cards and I/O boxes, the number of channels is significantly enlarged up to 256x256. Multiple DSP cards are available for the VADIS 212 to enable real-time audio processing such as EQ, limiting, expanding, compression, level adjustment, level measurement for metering and alert, distribution and mixing. In this way, the 212 can become a perfect mixing console or PA system engine. The wide range of VADIS cards permits adaptation of the VADIS 212 to any studio layout or customer requirements.
