Korea Telecom (KT) has installed a fully-redundant Network Electronics flashlink fiber optic transport platform in its satellite operations division located in Kwan-Jin Gu, Seoul, as part of the facility’s digital upgrade.
The flashlink platform allows KT to receive 20 digital signals from 13 CATV providers and distribute the signals to 50 system operators in Korea via satellite. The system launched last month.
The system was designed around 86 sets of flashlink SDI-TR and SDI-OE multi-bit-rate converters and transponder modules. The SDI-TR provides high-performance media conversion for broadcast signals from 19.4Mb/s up to 540Mb/s and can be configured as an electrical-to-optical or optical-to-electrical converter, or as an optical-to-optical transponder.
The SDI-OE also provides high performance optical-to-electrical conversion for various signal formats from 19.4Mb/s to 540Mb/s. KT is using the system to deliver analog video/audio, digital video/audio and analog cue-tone signals.
