Link Research launches LinkHD wireless camera system
LinkHD uses Link’s FPGA-based MPEG-2 encoding and decoding technology, optimized for ultra-low signal delay with no loss of picture quality.
Link Research last week launched its LinkHD wireless camera system for all HDTV formats at IBC2005.
LinkHD is a lightweight unit that can be attached to any standard broadcast camera with an HD-SDI output. It has a control panel with a color display and a menu system that make it easy to set up the encoder and configure the system for operation.
LinkHD uses Link’s FPGA-based MPEG-2 encoding and decoding technology, optimized for ultra-low signal delay with no loss of picture quality. The LinkHD system will have an end-to-end video delay of less than 100ms, making it suitable for use alongside wired HD cameras for live broadcast productions.
Link Research has designed LinkHD to transmit the full resolution of the original HD signal without first converting it to SD. The LinkHD system uses Link’s own COFDM-based modulation to deliver a robust signal with receive diversity, featuring both packet diversity and maximum ratio.
Power consumption for the LinkHD is below 20 watts.
