Manhattan Producers Alliance to examine use of Mac OS systems in music
The Manhattan Producers Alliance will use their midtown Manhattan facility as an "incubator" to explore 0S9/OSX migration issues as they pertain to professional music and audio postproduction.
The "OSX project" will consist of a facility-wide multi-staged migration from OS9 to OSX, then to the G-5 platform, and eventually to a fully centralized, multi-user, SAN based environment.
The transition will be documented, with the focus being on the real-life, day-to-day production issues as the alliance's diverse community of composers employ the new systems in their daily work. The information will be made public via published technical documents, a series of interviews with participants, and various other releases in the media.
