Morpheus speeds Danmarks Radio to air
Danmarks Radio (DR), the Danish state broadcaster, has gone on the air with Pro-Bel Morpheus automation, which is currently running channels DR-1 and DR-2. The four-channel Morpheus is controlling Omneon Spectrum media servers; Miranda Presmaster branding; and Softel subtitling systems.
DR began a major process to rationalize its technologies and premises by uniting radio, television and new media playout in one site, with an integrated tapeless workflow throughout. The new building — DR Byen, based just outside Copenhagen — consolidates the operations of 12 formerly separate sites, and contains studios, production facilities, delivery systems and a comprehensive multimedia news area, which together serve all of DR’s outputs across radio, television and new media.
The vision for the playout center was to create one facility using a single IP network for all traffic within the building. A number of disparate media areas are united by a central media archive that serves the entire technical architecture.
