NAB, Homeland Security create guide for broadcaster emergency preparedness
The National Association of Broadcasters and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security have created “Are You Ready?,” a step-by-step emergency preparedness guide for local broadcasters.
The NAB will make this resource available to all television and radio broadcast stations during September. The guide provides information and suggestions for local broadcasters as they reach out to audiences with preparedness messages.
The guide also provides information on how stations can help communities during and after a crisis by keeping citizens informed and by supporting local relief efforts.
The NAB guide helps kick off National Preparedness Month when hundreds of activities are planned throughout the nation to highlight the importance of individual emergency preparedness for local broadcasters.
