One in eight subscribe where FiOS Internet is available, says Verizon
Verizon last week reported data from the second quarter shows that on average the company has won 12 percent of potential FiOS Internet customers within nine months of entering a new market with its fiber-optic network.
A total of 375,000 Verizon customers have subscribed to the FiOS Internet service, the company said. The company gained 111,000 FiOS Internet customers in the second quarter. The company's new fiber-optic network now extends to 4.5 million homes and small businesses in 16 states.
Verizon also offers its FiOS TV service with more than 180 all-digital channels, two dozen HDTV channels and up to 2500 video-on-demand titles, in about 60 markets in seven states. According to John Wimsatt, senior vice president of Verizon's Broadband Solutions Group, a “high percentage” of FiOS Internet customers are subscribing to FiOS TV.
