Turner Studios adds additional Lectrosonics RF systems for new Atlanta studios
Turner Studios selected Lectrosonics' digital hybrid wireless and IFB systems for its latest soundstage facility. A six-channel Lectrosonics Venue Receiver system, occupying a single rack space, will accept signals from a similar number of new super-miniature SM belt-pack transmitters. Multiple Lectrosonics IFB systems are also being added to the inventory for use in the first of two new soundstages at the company’s new 8-story Birchwood studio facility in midtown Atlanta. The first soundstage is slated to go live by the end of March.
Turner’s existing Techwood campus is right next door, where 40 Lectrosonics wireless microphone and 19 IFB systems are already in use across the facility’s four existing soundstages. Among the Lectrosonics products in use there are six UM200 belt-pack wireless transmitters and UDR200C receivers for Studio J, which is dedicated to NBA basketball coverage. That facility also uses half-dozen Lectrosonics IFB systems. Studio J was recently remodeled with a plethora of plasma screens to complicate the already-challenging RF environment, but Turner Studios said the Lectrosonics gear required nothing more than a planned change in antenna location to make the transition without incident.
