TV Globo turns to RFS for purpose-built VHF antenna
RFS’s 611CP VHF circularly polarized Band I VHF antenna was purpose-built for TV Globo’s new Sao Paulo headquarters.
Brazil’s TV Globo has enlisted Radio Frequency Systems (RFS) to provide a tailored VHF broadcast antenna solution and UHF infrastructure to meet the needs of future digital television services for its premier São Paulo market.
The new antenna is part of a major relocation for TV Globo, one that will see its current Mount Jaraguá broadcast facility moved to a new multi-story facility in the financial sector’s Alameda Santos.
The RFS solution is founded on a VHF antenna specifically developed for the new TV Globo Alameda Santos site. The purpose-built 611CP VHF antenna is a circularly polarized Band I VHF antenna that provides pattern circularity and premium voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) performance in a corrosion-resistant pole-mounted structure.
With factory acceptance testing successfully completed in late February, the new VHF antenna is due to arrive in São Paulo in April and is expected to be fully operational in the latter half of 2006.
