TV Magic helps Pacific Television transmit from New York brownstone

Broadcast systems integrator TV Magic designing and building an HD insert studio at Pacific Television Center's new Manhattan offices. This New York facility will complement the company's London and Los Angeles offices, providing production and transmission services for live broadcast in a location convenient to major networks from around the world.

Pacific Television has gone out of its way to design offices distinguishable from the large office block typical of other broadcast companies. The company's New York office, which features a boutique-inspired design, will occupy the ground floor units of two adjacent brownstones located on East 31st Street between Park Avenue South and Lexington Avenue. SIA Acoustics was retained for the studio design, which provides an oasis in the middle of Manhattan. TV Magic is overseeing the design and installation of the facility's broadcast and transmission infrastructure, including interfacing with master control to get content out of the building.

Among the key challenges presented by the project was integration of broadcast systems into a 100-year-old building. TV Magic engineers worked closely with Pacific Television’s own engineering staff and the architectural firm to build the supporting electrical and network capacity to support operations and fiber-based transmission of content for broadcast and delivery to the company's Los Angeles and London offices. The new facility is set to start business in October.
