Vela MPEG-2 decoder helps Japanese space experiment monitoring lift off
The Vela CineView Pro XLe MPEG-2 video decoder will allow JAMSS to distribute coverage of tests carried out on the International Space Station to Earthbound researchers.
The Japan Manned Space Systems (JAMSS) is using the Vela CineView Pro XLe professional MPEG-2 video decoder board as part of innovative research work to be conducted in conjunction with the Japanese Experiment Module of the International Space Station. JAMSS is working with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency on the delivery of images produced from a variety of space research experiments to be conducted on the International Space Station. Data gathered from tests carried out 400km above the earth will be downlinked and analyzed by researchers unable to reproduce these experiments on Earth.
Using the Vela CineView Pro XLe decoder, MPEG-2 streams can be distributed on earth-based video equipment for scientists to study.
