Weigel Broadcasting relies on JVC GY-HD250 for ‘First Business’
“First Business,” a syndicated news program produced in Chicago by Weigel Broadcasting’s WCIU-TV, is using the JVC ProHD GY-HD250 exclusively for all camera work.
Distributed daily to more than 90 affiliate stations in the United States, the business news show is a fast-moving half-hour that looks ahead at the coming day's trading.
Kyle Walker, Weigel’s director of engineering, also selected the GY-HD250s for the station’s new children’s series, “Green Screen Adventures,” which debuted in March.
“First Business” uses the GY-HD250s in the studio and out in the field where the cameras are equipped with JVC’s DR-HD100 hard disk recorders. The show is broadcast from one of three remote financial exchange locations where the feed is then sent back to the station via fiber.
While package and studio elements are produced with the HD GY-HD250, they currently air in SD, Walker said. When upgrades to the control room are finished later in the year, the show will move to an HD format.
