A. High-definition and standard-definition lenses for portable, studio, field, and robotic HDTV and SDTV video cameras. Also, High-Definition Electronic Cinematography prime and zoom lenses for digital filmmaking; and the Canobeam DT-150 HD wireless optical two-way video-transceiver system.
Q. What’s new that you will show at NAB2007 and that broadcasters should look for there?
A. The new DIGISUPER 100AF long-field HDTV Auto Focus lens, which is designed to assist camera operators to instantly achieve exact focus at all times (a critical need in all applications of HDTV field production, including sports, concerts, special events, etc.). Also, new portable, affordable HD lenses in Canon’s HDgc lens line.
Q. How is your new product offering different from what’s available on the market?
A. The DIGISUPER 100AF long-field HDTV Auto Focus lens—this revolutionary new lens uses a unique Canon optical technology for accurate, reliable performance even at telephoto distances. Canon’s HDgc lens line provides high-end Canon HD portable lens features, such as the programmable lens settings of Canon’s eDrive, but at an affordable price scaled to the new generation of affordable, portable HD camcorders, such as Sony’s XDCAM HD. Canon’s HDgc line includes lenses for all leading camera-imager sizes: 1/2-inch, 2/3-inch, and 1/3-inch.
Q. Where are you based, and how many employees do you have? Anything else we should know about your company?
A. The Canon Broadcast and Communications Division is based in Ridgefield Park NJ. It is part of Canon U.S.A. Inc., which employs more than 10,000 people. Canon U.S.A. Inc. is listed as one of Fortune’s Most Admired Companies in America and is on the BusinessWeek list of “Top 100 Brands.”
