Content is king at IBC2006

IBC2006 focuses on the importance of content in the fast-changing world of media distribution Sunday, Sept. 10, when content production will be the theme.

To support the day’s theme, IBC2006 will explore a variety of critical content-related topics, including:

  • Producing for multiple distribution avenues;
  • The viability of simultaneous production of content for HD, SD and mobile devices;
  • Planning for changing viewing habits;
  • Improving workflow;
  • Protecting content but assuring convenience of use;
  • Reconciling copyright issues among various cultures.

IBC2006 will offer a variety of informative sessions conducted by leading industry figures to explore these topics. The sessions include:

  • Producing Content for Multiple Distribution Channels, directed by Chuck Phelan of National Teleconsultants. This session will offer a wide variety of perspectives on producing content — including video, audio and graphics — for HD, SD, mobile and podcasts.
  • New Tools for Content Creation, directed by Peter Symes of Thomson Grass Valley. Special attention will be given to the efficiencies file-based workflows are offering producers of news and entertainment content.
  • Content Protection, directed by Hans Hoffman of the European Broadcasting Union. Those attending this session will get an overview of the latest trends in protecting content, tracking rights and the right amount of content protection for consumers.
  • Workflow — The Keystone for Efficient Content Production, directed by Adrian Scott of Bakewell House Consultancy. This session will explore workflow and the tools and metrics to evaluate efficiency in the production of content.
