Multidyne — Jim Jachetta
(click thumbnail)Jim JachettaQ. What kind of products or services does your company offer for broadcasters?
For over 31 years, MultiDyne has provided innovation and excellence in manufacturing for a full-line of broadcast television and video equipment. The MultiDyne product line helped CNN get on-the-air in the early 80’s, and has helped televise many Presidential Elections and Conventions, as well as the 2008 Super Bowl. We are proud to have worked with many of the world’s Fortune 100 Broadcasters and Corporations.
For more than a decade, our main focus has been fiber optic transport systems for video, audio, SDI, HD-SDI, 3G HD-SDI, AES, Ethernet, data, PTZ, RGB/VGA, DVI, HDMI and CATV signals, although we still support, and have requests for, analog transport products. We can support up to 18 wavelengths per fiber with CWDM optical multiplexing on Multimode and Singlemode fiber, and we offer automatic optical protection switches for redundancy. Our fiber optic systems are part of the modern operating room for arthroscopic surgery and telemedicine.
Additional solutions include test signal generators to automatically test continuity and performance of video and audio circuits. Video and audio source identification is another unique solution provided by MultiDyne. We also provide distribution amplifiers and terminal equipment for both analog and digital video and audio, including video cable equalizers and distribution amplifiers for up to 150 MHz video, audio, data, DS3, SDI and AES.
We also offer several universal modular frames for video, audio, test, ID, distribution and fiber optic transport. Look for a fully modular and scalable modular frame platform to be available soon with support for the entire Multidyne product line.
Our small to medium sized Fiber Optic routing switchers (72x72 to 288x288), and small electrical routing switchers for video, audio, data and SDI, are also part of our product range.
Q. What’s new that you will you show at the NAB Show and that TV broadcasters should look for there?
MultiDyne is the only fiber transport company showing a 3Gb/s HD-SDI 1080p fiber optic link at the NAB Show this year. Developed to ease the engineering and financial difficulties associated with the migration to digital and HD television, it provides an economical solution for the fiber optic transport and distribution of virtually any signal from 5 Mb/s to 3 Gb/s, reducing the risk for new formats in the foreseeable future. The HD-3000 will future-proof your system design and infrastructure to support 1080p.
The HD-3000 has a loop-through, re-clocked and equalized input, and dual re-clocked outputs in a modular package for remote operation. Most small HD fiber solutions on the market today are made off-shore with no cable equalization and jitter-reducing re-clockers. The re-clocking and equalization circuitry is what sets the MultiDyne HD-3000 3Gb/s HD and the HD-1500 1.5Gb/s HD fiber links apart from the rest.
MultiDyne is one of the industry’s first to provide a fully uncompressed DVI Single and Dual Link fiber optic transport solution over a single fiber. The DVI-5000 supports up to WQXGA 2560 x 1600. MultiDyne will demo and display a DVI-5000 with Dual Link DVI at NAB this year in booth SU3411. Other DVI fiber products will be introduced at InfoComm in June.
Q. How is your new product offering different from what’s available on the market?
The HD-3000 and HD-1500 3Gb/s and 1.5Gb/s fiber links do not cut any corners in design and engineering. We include state-of-the-art cable equalizers and jitter eliminating re-clockers in all of our SDI and HD-SDI solutions. If equalization and jitter artifacts are not managed and controlled, HD-SDI signals will become unusable further down the production chain.
Uncompressed video is the MultiDyne mantra. Our new DVI-5000 Dual Link DVI fiber transport system is one of the only fully uncompressed DVI transport solutions available today. We will be introducing some lower-cost DVI solutions in June at InfoComm in booth C1926.
MultiDyne’s core products are manufactured and designed in the USA at the MultiDyne facility, including the HD-3000 and HD-1500. Since we manufacture these products ourselves, we can maintain top-quality standards; produce and deliver quantities to meet any demanding time frame; and as a result of the above, we offer a 7-year warranty!
Q. Where are you based, and how many employees do you have? Anything else we should know about your company?
MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems is based in Locust Valley, New York and have been serving the Broadcast and Professional A/V industries for over 31 years. In the last six months, MultiDyne has re-organized its distribution network and signed over 50 new dealers, resellers and system integrators worldwide. Our sales and engineering team is located at our corporate offices in New York. MultiDyne has its own GSA contract and is considered a small, woman-owned business.
We have a quick-turn, surface-mount production line in-house for short-run, quick-turn, special orders. This gives MultiDyne the manufacturing flexibility to fill small quantity product orders with customized features and options. Our contract manufacturer handles our higher volume manufacturing at another facility. All our products are fully RoHS compliant. Look for new and innovative products from MultiDyne this year as we concentrate on our new organic development growth plans, and additional sales & marketing efforts for increasing recognition in the industry.
