The federal agency in charge of managing national emergencies will conduct tests on the advanced alerting capabilities of ATSC 3.0, the new broadcast transmission standard now under development.

Commissioner Mignon L. Clyburn and David G. Simpson, Rear Admiral (Ret.) USN, chief of the PSHSB will open the workshop.

The nationwide EAS test in September was a success, though it revealed "shortfalls" in some state-level EAS plans and other areas that could be improved.
